Sociologist. Feminist. Lithuanian. I have written my dissertation on period pain, which, unexpectedly, shifted my attention to period tracking apps and then to big data and data science. Hence, currently I am exploring various connections between feminism, health, big data and technology.
In this article I explore period tracking apps from a feminist perspective. I argue that through the designs and data collection they reflect and perpetuate, even if unintentionally, heteronormative notions of gender and sexuality.
