The feminist group INSOMNIA took a remarkable action in Paris on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Aujourd’hui, la violence masculine est la première cause de mortalité pour les femmes de 16 à 44 ans dans le monde. C’est pour ça que la nuit du 24 novembre, le groupe féministe INSOMNIA a mené une action symbolique d’ampleur en mettant 100 affiches dans les espaces publicitaires des abribus le long des grands boulevards parisiens.

This very term became a hashtag after a high-ranking police officer claimed that sexual harassment did not exist in Finland before the events of New Year’s Eve of 2015.

#lääppijä -tunnuksella merkityt kertomukset alkoivat kuvailla miten tavallista seksuaalinen ahdistelu on Suomessa. Häirintä ei ole uusi ilmiö.

FGM in Europe: The State of Play

Far from being an external or an African problem, it is estimated that around 500,000 women living in the EU have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM) and close to 180,000 young women and girls are at risk from it every year. Different initiatives on the EU level try to tackle this problem, with the lack of efficient and effective enforcement being a major challenge.

Rio Olympics 2016 was one of the biggest events this summer that captured the world’s attention. What we saw is a competition between countries that win more medals, but inside every sport and country has a different story. One such story is about a young Lithuanian swimmer, Ruta Meilutyte, who won all possible champions in the world, but at the end of the Rio Olympics surprisingly returned to Lithuania without a single medal.
